Tiny 0,25 l bottle from kappldav123. Thanks a lot! Cloudy dark brown with a small one finger beige head. Medical herbal smell. Taste is also medical, Christmas spices, cookies, cough drops, coriander, malty, coca cola. No real carbonation. Nice experiment.

Bottle 25 cl. Pours a clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a small, off-white head. Very spicy nose, smells like Christmas cookies: cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves - you know the drill. Fairly rich, malty body, sweet brown sugars and molasses with all these spices carrying through. Apparently heavily hopped, but most is buried under the sweetness. Could go for a nice Xmas beer. 170920

Two 25cl bottles @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, July 17, courtesy of Haddock after his recent travels to East Germany. Many thanks. Was given strict instructions to serve at room temperature, which I was a bit wary of, but on initial sip it seems to suit the style well. Taste seems dominated by a chai latte character, with lots of cinnamon and similar spice. Has a fair sweetness, but I can certainly understand why this is recommended nightcap drinking. I enjoyed it.

Bought a three bottle ’handbag’ at the brewery in May this year. Opened one of the .25 litre bottles at home for a ’nightcap’ on 15th July 2017. I shall share the other two bottles at the next Shrewsbury Beer Exchange meeting to allow others to experience the brew. Really liked it actually. Supposed to be drank at room temperature as a ’nightcap’ (hence the name of the beer). Pours a black colour, wispy head. The beer is full of herbs and spices and may well have medicinal properties, it certainly tasted that way, the nose was also medicine like. Different and interesting: I picked up coriander and cardamom within the aromas and flavours, plenty of other esters and tastes to find if your nasal organ and taste buds are in good order.

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass almost black, very spicy aroma. Tastes very strange, a lot of different notes, but not very strong. Unbalanced finsih. Not really convincing, but a nice try.

Cute little bottle. Spicy nose, cinnamon, ginger and cardamom strongest, a hint roast. Murky opaque brown, no head. Fairly Christmassy flavours - pretty much a liquid gingerbreadhouse. If I wasn’t in the mood for dessert right now I would probably not like it. Mellow mouthfeel. Interesting idea and a good try - very much not what I am used to from a German brewer. Lets see if I sleep well after it like they promise.

at the brewpub. Brown colour, small head, cloudy. Schlafmützchen translates roughly as night cap, they say it helps you sleep better. Interesting ingredients: honey, cardamom, coriander, ginger, cinnamon, clove, sage and others. Aroma of gingerbread. Full-bodied beer, the flavour really reminds me of gingerbread, but not sweet. Lovely combination of the herbs and spices and the honey. A very "christmasy" beer.
