Cask-conditioned, served by gravity at the Tewkesbury winter beers festival, 7/2/2014. Dark brown with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish, slightly thin porter, with some chocolate, coffee and leafy hops, before a dryish finish. Fine.

Cask at CBC Clerkenwell, London. Pours clear brown with a fine beige head. Basic toasty malt character, some light dirt, faint brown bread, moderate sweetness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Faint dryness to finish with light earthy bitterness and mellow cocoa. Simple porter.

Cask. Deep brown colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla and some mild nutty and berryish notes. Flavour is roasted malts, dark berries, nutty, chocolaty as well as mild coffee and ashes as well. Nice.

Cask conditioned gravity dispense at Merton Winter Beer Festival 16-02-07. This beer poured a dark brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma was coffee and some dark fruit, flavour also fruity, roasty, coffee and with some reasonable bitterness and a drying finish. I quite enjoyed this but rather hoped it would be a little better than it was.

Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Colour is black / very dark ruby. Aroma is roast malts on an initially unpleasant background of vomit, gets better as the beer warms up. Flavour is much better, again: roast malts and coffee. Bitterness seems just right. Easy drinking.

A black beer with no head. The aroma is that of smoked malt. The feel is the flat feel from cask conditioned beers. The flavor is very round with an OK sweetness and some bitterness with heavy notes of smoked malt. Definatly a beer You should try if You get the chance.
