Meic Stevens, the troubadour from Solfach in Pembrokeshire, composed a summery and popular song called ‘Y Brawd Houdini’. The sun is shining through its verses – ‘how about a bottle of ale?’!
Meic has held numerous gigs and attended many festivals in Llŷn, and is an evergreen favourite with all generations. The western seas can always be heard in the distance in his wonderful collection of songs. He lived in Llithfaen for a while, and many of his band come from this area.This is our tribute to Meic the magician – now 70 years old. ‘Iechyd da, Meic’ – many thanks, and rock on.

24/6/2024. Bottle bought at One Stop, Llanberis. Pours clear deep golden with a small frothy white head. Aroma is light, hoppy, very floral, malt, meadow, hint of honey. Medium sweetness with some nice developing bitterness. Moderate body, oily watery, gently fizzy. Nice bitter finish. Decent summery pale. Seems to have improved judging by the reviews 2017 and prior.

Bottle from Stori. Appearance - golden with a proportionate white head. Nose - lemon, orange and brown bread. Maybe something herbaceous. Taste - bread and orange again. Palate - light to medium bodied, fairly zingy in the middle but could be cleaner on the finish. Original review text: Bottle from Stori. Appearance - golden with a lovely frothy head. Nose - dank and floral, though more like geraniums than fragrant flowers. Taste - lemon to orange. Brown sugar and caramel. Palate - tangy and creamy in texture. Close to medium bodied. Good persistent tang on the finish. Overall - grew on me.

500ml bottle from a shop in Caernarfon. Pours golden amber, good white head. Light pale malts on the nose. Taste continues, soft bready moments with a subtle honey nod. Not a huge amount going on, a mild fruity sweetness does emerge as it warms, but it’s pleasant enough.

500ml bottle, beer gift from ManVsBeer. Pearl white head, fair lacing, crystal clear golden body. Modest smell of dusty hops and pale malty sweetness. Earthy malts and semi-sweet fruity hops to the flavour profile. Soft on the swallow. Easy going (hotel room, Bloomsbury, London 10.07.2015).
