First Brewed as a Collaboration with Adrian Chapman from Saltaire Brewery & soon to be Head Brewer at Wishbone Brewery. Stormy Point is a Cascadian style dark ale, that has ale the character of a west coast IPA but its black. hopped with massive amounts of US Magnum, Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra, Galaxy & Experimental 366 Hops. Stormy Point has lots of tropical fruit and Citrus & is very hop forward & fruity, but retains a nice malt backbone to balance out the Heavy hopping & has minimal to no roast malt in the flavour, more Pale & hoppy West Coast IPA than hoppy stout. Oxy moronic to the Max.

Bottle @ Beerdock, Crewe. Made no notes as my phone ran out of battery so rating from memory a week after. Pours very dark, almost black. Strong pine aroma, taste is strong and full of character.. some resin and prickly pine with a strong flavoursome finish. Without doubt the best I’ve had from these guys so far.

Halifax Beer Festival. Cloudy brown, not much head. Sweet in character and a touch soapy in its aroma with some treacle evident.

Bottle, from Barley & Hops, Cafe Bar, Congleton, Cheshire, courtesy of dad (cheers dad!) consumed at mums Worcester, Saturday 5th April 2014 Pours dark brown, really quite roasty but also quite bitter haven’t really read label but it tastes something akin to a black. IPA (actually now just bothered reading it, it is a BIPA) Some pine resin in mouth and quite citrussy with a little sweet pink grapefruit coming to the fore. A good solid malty backbone, ensures that this is a strident and somewhat muscular and robust black IPA, I have to say I have enjoyed everything I’ve had so far from this brewery and this is certainly no exception. This isn’t too pushy on the hop front in fact it’s just right, good stuff. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
