Cask at The Armoury, Shrewsbury. Pours pitch black with black molasses, treacle & liquorice, with a thick sweetness of raisins, plums and just a touch of ginger. Very nice.

Half-pint: hand-pulled on 26 Mar 2013 at a Shropshire Cask Festival in ’The Haygate’ Wellington. Dark, rich and very sweet. Looked fine, an almost black body with a good creamy head of tanned foam. The aroma given off was of a sweet alcoholic fruit cake heavily laden with plums, the taste followed suit. A bit too sweet, even for my palate: a nice night cap though after drinking pints of lighter and less alcoholic beers earlier in the session.

On gravity at Bristol Beer Festival 14/3/2013. Dark brown with a slight, off-white head. Sweet treacle notes, prunes, some marzipan, liquorice and a hint of ginger with a moderately bitter finish. Very good.
