Geelbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig en kruidig zoet met iets van honing, wat gras en een beetje fruit.

33cl bottle. A clear dark golden beer with a off-white head. Aroma of sweet sticky pale malt, some honey and spices. Taste of sweet and spicy pale malt, honey, caramel, moderate bitterness.

Small if persistent just off-white head, fed by lively carbonation in veiled golden-ochre beer. Very malty nose, faint spicy/herbal (nettles?), bit peppery. Again very malty, with faint grassy/peppery lining; mildly sweet. Faintly a bit fruity flavour, as diluted peach juice. Good carbonation, very lightly slick, light to medium bodied, but if feels a bit lean, especially in the aftertaste. OK. Nothing wrong. Nothing to see.

Organic beer (like the other Warmenbols), a blonde brewed at Den Hopperd. Medium thick, egg-white, dense and quite small-bubbled, slowly opening head lacing in shreds over a hazy, warm 'pale orange' beer with peachy hue, with some darker flakes of proteins sinking to the bottom of the glass even after the first pour - a sign of age, I'm afraid. Aroma of indeed some rusty, almost 'metallic dry chicken soup'-like oxidation, but not too strongly so; other impressions of old oxidized apple, rusk, wet bread crust, nutmeg, old dried orange peel, roasted carrot, fried egg, honey, old dry cigarette tobacco, white pepper, dried apricot, vague peppermint. Fruity onset in a cleanish, only subduedly sweet kind of way, red apple and light dried banana slices, very light sourish accent, medium carbonated; very slick, bit metallic-edged cereally and nutty maltiness, feeling a bit thin and 'empty' to be honest, leading to a softly bittering finish with a dash of floral hops as well as spicy notes of very old orange peel, cloves and white pepper, no doubt of mostly phenolic nature. Some of that sweet oxidation returns retronasally, while malt and a kind of honeyish (unfermented sugar) sweetness also lingers in the finish, albeit subtly so. Clearly a bit too old, this bottle I stumbled upon, and this is not the kind of beer to age - but that said, this is better than other Warmenbol brews I had and, all things considered and ignoring the oxidation, relatively enjoyable, as a simple, indeed somewhat single-purpose Belgian 'amber' along the lines of classic Palm and De Koninck 'spéciales belges'. Not the worst beer I had, in a very old-fashioned style that has sadly become all but obsolete.

Clear orange beer, big creamy off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very rural smell, malty, bit yeast, grains, some banana. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty start, grains, hay, some banana, hoppy notes, bit sourish, fruity notes, some overripe fruits even, maybe. Aftertaste: malty, grains, hay.

Bottle. Back sais brewed by dessevaux, but alcohol and name are the same so i'll rate it here. Pours warm amber-orange ( yeasty , the bottle didnt rest enough after transport so should be more clear when rested properly ) very big white head. Medium to medium low stability. Very fluffy. Smell is phenomic, some esthers. Raw malts, but not fresh and crisp. Gives the idea sugar was fermented here as well, but I am not certain of that really happening. Taste is malty, bit honey like sweetness. Phenolic, towards the peppery side. Esthers are more in the background, providing some heavyness ( banana, pear ) , some very mild spiced hops . High carbonation, medium body. Classic belgian blonde, which is - looking at the name - what they were going for. If so, mission accomplished, well done ! Sad enough tho, I find this kinda beer as an ending goal to weak. Why make a beer where there are hundreds of already ? Either brew something else, or improve existing quality standards ( like de la senne did ) . This is one no-one will be remembering specifically, which aint either negative or positive....
