A very special, and very limited, entry in our venerable Yeti Series, Mexican Chocolate Yeti is a sensory delight. We’ve added a variety of spices, vanilla and coffee to Yeti Imperial Stout to create our version of a traditional champurrado drink. Spiced chocolate drinks have been part of Aztec and Mayan cuisine and culture for centuries, but they have yet to be paired with a Yeti!

568 ml can. Opaque black pour. Smallish tan head leaves wonderful clinging lace. Roasted malt aroma hints at cinnamon and tobacco. Bittersweet roasted malt flavor. Notes of dark chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, coffee and mild chilies, perhaps anchos. Mouthfeel has a bit of sticky, light viscosity to it, like a squeeze of Hershey’s chocolate syrup directly into the mouth. There is some heat on the backend, though it is quite subdued. This is a gentle brew as Mexican Hot Chocolate Imperial Stouts go. Refined, yet complex and flavorful. At 9.5% ABV, it is definitely boozy, but does not come across as such. A very nice brew, indeed.

Burk från SB. Opak svart vätska med lågt beige skum. Kryddor, snäll men växande chilivärme, kaffe och choklad. Gott men kanske inte en av de bättre yetisarna.

Stupid big can. Pours like used motor oil with a decent head and aromas of chocolate, some ancho or something on the peppery edge but not a super spicy one, vanilla and cinnamon, a touch of coffee. I'm not totally sold on the ancho or cinnamon, but there is something green and spicy and something spicy... Flavor is a big stout with some heat on the tail end and a mix of stuff in the middle. Heh. It seems a little washed out. It's good, but not quite as full as some of the other Yetis... Yeti? Yetii? What's the plural of this one?

The Yeti variations are mostly a treat, time to see if Mexican Chocolate continues that tradition. I purchased a stovepipe of this brew a few weeks ago in Odessa at the craft beer store. Better than a tall boy, I do prefer the bombers. It’s all bout the volume. My New Belgium snifter is carrying the weight tonight, I see a classic brown-black liquid completed by a strong medium tan head. The nose is malt, coal and grain. The taste is a step up, chocolate, coffee to a small degree, something spicy and straw. Okay but not their best. Do like the graphics on the can. Colorful.

Can. A- Cinnamon, cocoa, mild coffee, mild coconut, mild peppers. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Cinnamon, cocoa, slightly roasty. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Still trying to decide how I feel about these 19 oz cans. Definitely overpricing them. Too much for one, honestly. Better shared. Not the best mexi stout I've had and with it being a Yeti base, I did expect more. Good but just not terribly complex.

Can from Systembolaget, bought in November 2019. Almost black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, cinnamon, some vanilla and coffee. The same in the taste. The body was medium. A nice one.
