Created in partnership with our next door neighbors, Intelligentsia Coffee, Café de Olla is inspired by the traditional Mexican beverage of the same name. We added coffee beans and cold coffee to Original Bourbon County Stout and then enhanced this beer further through additions of cassia bark, orange peel, and panela sugar. The resulting beer is layered in complexity. Coffee and orange permeate the nose and are followed by notes of cinnamon, chocolate, and a pleasant sweetness.

Special beer for a special checkin! Big coffee notes up front, smooth bourbon finish. Nice sweetness from the sugar and orange peel - this one is amazing.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral coffee notes with distinctive notes of vanilla and bourbon, some nice sweet chocolate notes with light orange bark notes clearly noticeable. Taste is a complex mix of creamy sweet black chocolate notes with some nice floral coffee notes, some vanilla and bourbon with light orange bark notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with light warming alcohol notes. Loads of flavours with great level of complexities and still retaining good drinkability. I am usually not a fan or orange chocolate but this was well balanced.

Bottle (2019) pour in bottle share from AirForceHops--thanks for the opportunity, Chris! Appearance is dark brown--virtually black--with no sparkle, nice viscosity, thin ring of light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is wonderful blend of cinnamon, spice and mild coffee. Taste follows aroma. The cinnamon and spice are really excellent. Mouthfeel is full bodied with thick texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste, no evidence of alcohol. Overall, amazing that there is no actual cinnamon in this (love cassia bark!) and sugary sweetness. Delicious, really nice Mexican coffee that this is, though I can't say I get orange peel or a lot of traditional coffee and didn't get bourbon.

50cl bottle pours an inky black with some tan head. Nose has molasses, lots of baking spices, baker's chocolate, oatmeal raisin cookie, some booze. Flavor is a lot of spice, ginger, nutmeg and heavy cinnamon, malt and molasses, some booze, toasted marshmellow, coffee bean now. Finishes a bit boozy, but long.

10 Oz. Snifter at Empire Burger, Naperville. Just a trace of a head after only a minute at my table. Smell combines Triple Sec and Kahlúa, plus a big stops of Bourbon and some stout roast gain. But simply say and mellow in the nose of the many tastes competing for my palate, the first thing I pick out is sweet chocolate. THEN the orange liqueur and then the coffee. Again, like many BCS'S, it's sticky and a little oily, so it sticks to my lips. Don't worry about what others might say, I think BCS remains one of the more amazing, and experimental, bet series. Experimental mama they may sometimes Wimbledon, but this one out well worth the effort.

Bottle. Pours clear black, large tan head, dissipates reasonably quickly leaving nice residual and lacing. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, fudge, chocolate covered oranges, interesting spice -- Cassia? Flavor is quite sweet, light plus bitter, balanced, not overpowering fruit. Full body, a tad hot, but otherwise killing it.
