Barley Wine aged on Bowmore whisky barrels, with notes of raisins and red fruit. This one peaks in Peatedness and has the most whisky flavour. Tannins and a nice wooden aroma are something they all have in common.

bottle 14.08.2022 tasted 28.12.2023 super nice aroma centered around peat smoke and dried dark fruity notes. Flavor is dried dark fruity, peat smoke, charred wood, malts. This is a slightly fruity barley wine with an exceptionally delicious flavor where the quad like dried fruits and the peat smoke and the charred wood really really play well together.

Pours dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, dried fruits, whiskey and peat smoke. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, caramel, peat smoke and whiskey finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. A clear looking deep amber beer with a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma has a pleasant peaty touch, with roasted malts, caramel, some toffee and dried fruits. It's full-bodied, sweet and smooth on the palate, with flavors of peat and whiskey. Roasted malts, toffee, dried fruits and a hint of vanilla. Salty licorice notes in the lasting finish. Not sure if the barrel ageing is doing the beer any good. Still nice though. 210502

330ml bottle, 2019, No 6, kindly shared by Finn at a first of May lunch. Stable off-white head, ruby-black body, spotty lacing. Peaty nose joined by a scent of caramel sweetness. Rich flavours of smoked caramel malts, figs, oak, and dried fruits. Vanilla fruity ending with warmth from the alcohol. Full bodied. Good sipper. (Nerstranda, Tromsø 01.05.2021).

Bottle. Dark amber body under a fine, moderate sized tan head. Wonderful aroma of sweet caramel malt, dry fruit, mild wood, warming alcohol and smooth peat. Taste is sweet and malty with caramel, dry fruit, mild wood, distinct but subdued peat/smoke, balanced bitterness and pleasant alcohol. So incredible nice and balanced. Fine balanced body as well and long-lasting pleasant aftertaste. Who needs pastry stouts drowned down with additives when you can get such a beautiful, rich tasty and balanced beer like this?

Ce Barley Wine vieilli en fut de Bowmore brille avant tout par la mise en avant du boisé du fût et de son alliance avec le Bowmore qui donne des arômes chaleureux et francs. Car du côté de la base, celle-ci sert avant tout de faire-valoir sans réellement s'exprimer en amenant cependant une texture un peu dense intéressante, même si celle-ci est un peu sucrée. Au global, l'ensemble est satisfaisant pour un Barley Wine gourmand. Le visuel est sur un brun limpide avec une mousse brun clair nappant la surface. Le nez présente directement une dominante sur le Bowmore avec caramel, raisin et des arômes de fûts qui font craindre une aigreur à la dégustation. Heureusement, il n'ne n'est rien, et si les arômes de fûts sont nettement présents, ceux-ci ne sont aucunement aigres et s'allient de façon très intéressante aux arômes de Bowmore qui donne chaleur et vivacité avec un alcool à 10,5 % jouant bien son rôle. Ce cocktail, allié aux arômes de figues, raisin, caramel et d'épices de la base est appréciable, même si un peu plus de complexité aurait été la bienvenue. Sympathique.

Bottle. Dark ruby pour. Aroma of raisin, caramel, ripe cherry, soft smoke, vanilla, oak, caramelised malt and figs. Taste of soft savory smoke, caramel fudge, cherry, figs, raisin, caramelised malt, dates and a little booze. Long finish with nice lingering bowmore. This is really nice, slowly the white label quality is coming back.

Zwart bier met schuim. Smaak is warm en krachtig, licht zoet met iets van rook, karamel en een lichte whiskey smaak. Erg fijn bier, mooi in balans.
