30/XII/17 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ New Year's holiday (Ardennes) - BB: 21/V/19, bottled: 21/V/17, bottle #35 (2017-2264)

Clear orange beer, big creamy solid yellow head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity, some grapefruit, malty, bit sweetish. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very sweet start, quite some marzipan, malty, bit of caramel. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, some grapefruit, bit yeasty, citrus touch, overripe fruits.

Spiced Belgian blonde summer ale, sampled at Stefan's Single Trip Tasting, from a 75 cl bottle. Thin, off-white, moussy 'ring' of a head, hazy orangey peach blonde robe. Aroma of peach, sweet field flowers, celery (probably just the grapefruit), white bread, lemongrass indeed, freshly cut red apples, sweat, very noticeable 'ethereal' ginger, honey, orange peel (the actual orange), sweaty hint, raw potato. Fruity onset, red apple, pear and pineapple, sweetish with a sourish hint, medium carbonated, smooth mouthfeel. Cereally, rounded, 'white' bready malt middle with lingering honeyish sweetness on top; more and more obvious ethereal spiciness towards the end, unmistakable yet sweet-tilted ginger (rather than the raw, uplifting spiciness of actual ginger root), sweetness of orange flesh but in a 'dim' kind of way, spicy hop bitter note at the back, lingering cereally malt sweetishness. Relatively easygoing in spite of all the added ingredients, which, all things considered, behave rather courteously instead of tyrannizing the whole beer as I had feared; sweet and spicy for sure, but quite elegant and refreshing as well. Correct beer within the spiced Belgian ale context, expected much worse, I can see myself drinking more than one of these on a hot summer's day.

Bottle at Modeste 2017. Pours rather unclear blonde, smell is vegetal, bit clinical. taste is full, sharp, bit bitter, spiced. Almost chemical (on the border ) . OK. mild bitterness. Bit too soapy.

Thanks! Sampled bottled @ Modeste 2017. Orange golden. Nose is strange sweet soapy citrus & candy which makes more sense now that I see the ingredients. Taste is far too soapy plastic sweet candy artificial citrus, almost oddly salty. Thin artificial soapy body. Not for me.
