Bottled. NIce golden pour. White head. Hints of grassy pilsner and hops. Not bad pilsner.

Pour is a hazy golden with an average white head. Aroma is a decent pils malt with sweetness in there. Flavor again starts out with the pils malt but then kinda gets syrupy. Finish is dry and cracker malty. Would have gotten a better review if not for that secondary thick syrupiness.

Pours clear gold with a sticky, long lasting white head. Very little aroma. The flavor is lightly bitter and crisp.

Poured slightly darker than an average pilsner; golden yellow in color. Thin white head that dissipated quickly with little lacing. Aroma has typical grain notes, with a faint whiff of honey. Taste is crisp and somewhat bready, with a lemony note.

Golden with a decent head. Grassy aroma with light malts. Medium, biting mouth. Grassy flavor, light toasted malts, earth. Bitter finish. Not bad, but too grassy for me with little else.

Location: Draft at Capital Ale House, 11/26/10
Aroma: The nose is yeasty and bready with a little noble hop presence
Appearance: This pour of this one is somewhat hazy and copper in color
Flavor: The taste is yeasty malts, spice, light honey, light hop bitterness
Palate: The body is fairly light, muddled, lacking crispness, and slightly metallic on the finish
Overall Impression: I wasn't particularly impressed by this one. It didn't have that crisp pilsner feel that I look for from the best of this style. It also has the disadvantage of being enjoyed on the same evening as Legend Pilsner, which was quite good, and drinking this one left me longing for another Legend. Despite that, I have graded this beer on its own merits, and tried not to take into account any competition that might have made this one seem worse than it was.

Bottle from a dragon pack sampler from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Hazy orange pout with a good sized head. Moderate retention and lacing. Very grainy, almost malty aroma is getting close to a dark lager. Taste has hop bitterness up front, then some grain and grass.

I received this as a gift at RBSG 07, but I’m embarrassed to say I can’t remember from who. There is no other explanation for the low scores besides general dislike of pilsners, no matter how high the quality. And as someone who likes pilsners, this one is excellent. Full aroma with saaz hops, sweet malt, and yeast. Flavor is lightly bitter an fairly well hopped, but there is also malt and considerable yeast. Some very light grass and a little salt. Well carbonated, and a copper color. Outstanding.
