The inspiration for this dark and mysterious collaboration with Dugges is an old Gothenburg Porter; our recipe is loosely based on historical malt bills. There’s also a modern touch, with a hint of peated malt and a nice alcohol backbone to really layer up the roasty flavours. In Scandinavian folklore, Draugen is the ghost of a sailor, now often associated with anything dark or mysterious about the sea.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours black with an orange hue and a small, rough, beige head. Sweet roasted, tarry nose with a hint of smoke. Not much more than a medium body, strong British licorice and a sharp and not overly pleasant roastiness - not so welcoming. The peat is there but it's kinda welcoming. More rough and challenging than expected. 030118

Bottle bought at the Siren Tap Yard. Liquorice, coffee, peat and booze: an aroma with impact. Inky. Let down by a beige head that bubbles briefly before receding to the rim. Light bitter with sugary sweetness that gains strength. Otherwise it mirrors the aroma, which is no bad thing. Medium bodied. Creamy. Average carbonation. Long finish. A tad astringent. Great stuff. Bitter, smoky and sugary but doesn't overdo things.

On tap at Zagreb Beer Week 2017. Black with an off-white head. Roasty, burnt, ash and some caramel in aroma. Smoke flavour, intense, wood and ham. Medium to full body, sticky texture, moderate carbonation. Liked it.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L's place. Thanks Tom L. Black, not opaque. Licorice, roast, caramel, hops, some ash, sweetish, strong bitterness, boozy, medium-bodied. Not my cup of stout.

330ml bottle. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is roasty, dark malts, dark chocolate, very subtle peat and smoke. Taste of dark malts, roast, dark chocolate, molasses, liquorice, again the peat and smokiness is very subtle but enough to add some flavour, medium sweet with a roasty bitterness, a little warming alcohol. Full bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. Great imperial porter which is super drinkable considering the strength.

Draft - Smoke and some sticky molasses dark malts. Jet brown with a decent beige head. Bitter, smoke and dark sticky roast. Not to much smoke, which I am thouroghly against, but still nice. Boozy finish.
