This naturally hazy, tropical pale ale is dry hopped with Chinook and Columbus hops and flavoured with pineapple and coconut pulp to give our take on Pina Colada. No umbrella needed. Unfined and unfiltered.

Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 24th July 2017. Hazy gold with shallow whitish foam and scant lacing. Peachy tropical fruits aroma. Intense tropical fruits in-mouthwith peach, mango, and apricot under a citrus overtone. A marshmallow kick. Opal Fruits/FruitTella finish. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Rated as a novelty ale.

Cask at Craft Beer Co Holborn - London. Pours clear gold with a modest, foamy white head. The aroma has some ripening citrus, doughy pale bread. Light-medium sweet flavour with some white grapes, gummy melon, ripe lemon, more pale bread. Light bodied with delicate carbonation; OK condition. More gummy fruits in the finish, bready pale malts, low bitterness. Just alright overall.

Draught (Bookshop Alehouse, Southampton) - Pale golden with a white head. Coconut and pineapple dominate in the aroma and the taste. A bit artificial tasting but fun to drink, although becomes a bit sickly by the end of the glass.

Keg from Pint Shop. Light golden, not really hazy with a tiny ring of white head. Smells like coconut oil and a touch of tangerine. The coconut confuses the taste for me - it’s a bit spicy with a light sweetness followed by the hop bitterness one would expect from a pale ale- and this continues to the finish. More coconut in the aftertaste. Quite one-dimensional but after I got over the initial shock I rather liked it. Yes, I like piña coladas but not in my fucking beer. I enjoyed as a one-off but I hope this doesn’t become a ’thing’.
