Bouteille 341ml. Couleur rouge vin semi-translucide, mousse beige foncée fuyante. Arôme d’épices principalement girofle, alcool, léger côté fumé, fruits confits. Goût de girofle, malt grillé, alcool, sucré, figue séchées. Carbonatation moyenne, corps moyen.

Single from a local IGA store. Pours a deep amber colour with a soapy head that is beige, has average fizzy retention and a little lacing. The aromas are quite spiced up, with nutmeg and a little cinnamon, reminding me of eggnog and Christmas dessert. Light dark fruits in the background like raisins, plums. The spices in the taste are there, but blended mildly with the rest. Sure feels like a Christmas Ale, more than a Quadrupel. Maybe a little too rich overall.

Quite a decent effort. Some tweeking and this could really be a good quad. Pours dark brownish red with ok head and lacing. Aroma of oak, vanilla, some raisin and prune, pretty well-disguised booze and Belgian florals. Finishes with light sweetness. Bottle.

Bouteille 341ml.

Bottle: Poured a clear copper color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of sweet candi sugar with fruity ester and some candy-like notes with deep fruit cake malt notes. Taste is a good balanced mix between some fruity ester with loads of candy ester and some solid fruit cake malt notes with an unfortunate overly sweet finish. Body is average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. This is a very good beer with nice level of complexity but unfortunately it lacks some attenuation and is too sweet for its own good.

Aroma: Strong grapes aroma with a mix of prunes, molasses, caramel, figs and raisins. What a variety of aromas. Very complex and strong nose. Appearance: Brown with red glints, very clear despite the fact that the label said ’’beer on lees’’. Average creamy head, average lasting, no lacing and doesn’t stick much on glass despite it’s 11%. Taste: Strong alcohol feel for attack, very warm and comforting. fruit and sugar are sticking out a lot. We find back all aroma notes, especially grapes, dates and figs that are artfully wrapped by alcohol. Carbonation is also very efficient, helping spicy notes like nutmeg and clove sticking out. Palate is presenting a full body, round and creamy. A very sweet and flavor complex beer, very warming; excellent for cold winter nights. For those who do not like sweet beers please refrain; cause this one is extreme.
