La Complice 2013

Bottle: Poured a light brown color ale with a generous head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of dry bitter hoppy notes with some earthy tones also noticeable. Taste is dominated by earthy hops notes with an aftertaste that is more bitter than I was anticipating. Dry caramel malt are also easily noticeable. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. The Nugget hops brings a different side to this English style which ends up making things more interesting.

Sample, 4-ounce, during the Bières et saveurs, savoured on August 30 2013; eye: caramel, hazy, ne effervescence, tiny ring of off-white head, no lacing; nose: malt, light grain, light wheat, slight caramel, slight bubble gum, banana; mouth: malt, light grain, light wheat, slight caramel, slight bubble gum, banana, light acidity, finale in grain with presence of bubble gum, medium body, good carbonation, lightly bitter, lightly sweet, a bit thin; overall: nice surprise FRANÇAIS Échantillon, en fût, 4 onces, lors du Bières et saveurs, savourée le 30 août 2013; œil : caramel, voilée, pas d’effervescence, petit anneau de mousse blanc cassé, pas de dentelle; nez : malt, léger grain, léger blé, très léger caramel, très léger gomme-balloune, banane; bouche : malt, léger grain, léger blé, très léger caramel, très léger gomme-balloune, banane, légère acidité, finale en grain avec présence de gomme-balloune, corps moyen, bonne carbonatation, légèrement amère, légèrement sucrée, un peu mince; en résumé : correct

A lightly hazed amber ale with a thin white head. In aroma, grassy malt with herbal hops, OK. In mouth, crisp caramel malt with grainy notes, herbal hops, mineral notes, a bit boring. On tap at Bières et Saveurs 2013.

En fût au Bières et Saveurs de Chambly 2013. Couleur ambrée pâle, mousse blanc cassé. Arôme de malt, cassonade léger, verdure? Goût de malt, zéro amertume. Carbonation moyenne, corps moyen-faible.
