Golden pour, huge head, good lacing. Quite a bit of pine, and citrus. Lots of resins and an incredible bitterness. The alcohol is well hidden, but seems to add a light pepperiness that mingles with the pine.

Keg at Brasseur du Temps, Gatineau. Clear pale amber, mid sized head. Caramelly nose with pears and grapefruit. Sweet with full body and dense, rounded mouthfeel. Syrupy caramel, grapefruit and notes of pine. Mid bitter finish. Too much syrupy caramel.

Cloudy medium amber with a small white head leaving patchy lace. Nose is caramel, grass, pine, light orange and some wood. Light sweet toffee leads to a big bitter resiny middle and end with a bit of smokiness. Medium syrupy mouth with soft carbonation and a long bitter finish. Bitterness is a bit one dimensional and the alcohol is quite evident.

Draught @ the brewpub (11 o’clock). Pours clear golden with small white head. Clear aroma of hops and fruit, with cotric and malty notes. Sweet flavour of fruit and caramel, with bitter notes of hops and alcohol and some malty touches. Bittersweet afteraste. Warming alcohol presence. Well-balanced and rather nice.

The bottle is a bit more than a year old, was shared by my friend Jean-Yves at the Takatsuki Jazz Street. It pours a light orange gold, with a mild soapy looking head. The nose is fruity tropical hop notes. Medium to full bodied with a scratchy mouthfeel. The taste start is sweet fruity hops, then some caramel graham maltiness before a sort of dry hoppy pine finish. Quite good but I’d like to try this fresh. On tap at the brewpub: It poured a crystal clear copper with a big juicy hoppy citrus punch rising from the glass. The palate was a bit rough with a sharp palate scraping bitterness which is pretty common for the style. The taste was earthy, citrus & bitter caramel - very nicely balanced. Fresh the aroma got bumped up a bit.
