seriosuly, how many golden ales, blond ale do molson make? dear god..........they have like 25! and i cant figure out what the difference is between them. awful.

From old tasting notes. Clear deep gold color has a foamy white head. Slightly fruity malt aroma. Sweet, tart flavor upfront. Dry middle. Bitter hop finish is light.

Originally rated December 2005. Holy smacks ! I thought this one was long gone. I thought it was now the Old Vienna. Then, in a pizza store in Montreal, I see it. Finally, I have found it here, in Gatineau, Quebec. It does list on the label that it is 5% ABV. Pours a golden colour with a good foamy-cream head with heavy retention and nice lacing. The aromas are of malt and alcohol. Watery mouthfeel, quite crisp. The taste is malty and bitter with grain and slight corn finish. A decent ale that is refreshing with a bitter edge and malt winning over corn. The original brewery (O’Keefe) used to have a big share in the Quebec Nordiques... my favorite team. Bring ’em back !

Another day, another different Molson pale lager. Has an average gold body and an average white head. Aroma of burning garbage and rotten cardboard. Flavour is plain pale lager weakness with a wet finish. Not completely disgusting, but certainly boring.

De couleur dorée jaune et transparente. Nez de grains de malt pâle, de maïs sucré, léger de légumes bouillis et avec des petites notes houblonnées herbeuses (herbe mouillée). Mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture légèrement aqueuse. Goût de grains de malt pâle avec des notes de légumes bouillis sucrés lors de l’entrée en bouche suivi d’un goût sucré de maïs ainsi qu’un léger goût herbeux (herbe mouillée) puis en finale l’on retrouve des petites notes amères de houblon herbeux (foin) ainsi que des traces de sucre chimique. Post-goût court, aux petites notes amères de houblon herbeux ainsi que de faibles traces chimiques.

Bottle: Poured a dark yellow color ale with a very small head with limited retention. Aroma of is similar to real malt but with something that does smell like adjunct. Taste has some sweetness with limited hops. Not bad for a macro beer with some taste still present but very far from being tasteful.

Tasted from the bottle at a joint specializing in cardboard pizza at 4am on a Montreal Saturday morning.
This beer apparently has fans, and isn’t despised by beer geeks. Wow. Okay. Well, I found it to be typical grainy macro swill with a Union Made aroma. Overcarbonated, without malt or hops. Sub-par, even as Molson budget brands go.
