22 oz bottle from State Line (a while ago) that I have pulled from the back of the fridge, 10/18/15. It pours a dark brown color with a thick, creamy froth of tan head on top. The coffee and chocolate come through in the aroma and the taste. There's a bit of a raisin/dark fruit thing as well. Oak shows up here and there, but isn't predominant. Smooth mouthfeel, rather creamy. I'm not sure exactly what affect the age has had on this one, but it shows nothing that I can see would have been obviously hurt by the time. Nice beer.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma brings out spicy peppers and cinnamon. Flavour is quite nasty, with stale spicy cinnamon upfront, with some spicy peppers. No hint of cocoa. Really quite stale and weak. Meh.

Draft at the DC Beer Festival in Nationals Stadium. Poured a dark ruby color with a small off-white head. Aroma was incredibly sweet, dried fruits. Lots of booze comes through, some roasted malts. Flavor was some light roast, sweet dark fruits, tart fruits. Light red wine.

Dark color, almost black, with beige compact head. Smell of old wood. Somehow also the flavor recalls old furniture, old sofa, some cocoa, leather; there is some chocolate malt and spices.
Weird but not bad.

Dark brown coloured body with a very nice three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of strong spices, nutmeg, anise, cardamom, canella and tons of roasted malts, alcohol and a touch of dry oak. Medium-bodied; Very assertive spice flavours dominate the taste with canella and cardamom coming out the strongest, but finishing a little bit spicey. Aftertaste has much more roasted malt, touches of alcohol and quite a bit of bitterness at the finish that doesn’t go great. Overall, a decent beer - made with quality and is full of flavour, but the spices are a bit too much and the depth is not effective enough. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 24-October-2013 for US$7.99 sampled at home in Washington on 20-April-2014 a few minutes after returning from a land with no spices in beer (Germany).

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark mahogany with light head. Spicy aromas of chicory, cinnamon, and raisin bread. Flavors of cinnamon, coffee, tobacco, and roasted malts. Quite spicy up front but mellows towards the end. Interesting.

Bomber from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark ruddy copper (against strong light) with a foamy tan head. Aroma is primarily coffee/chocolate. Med + body. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, cinnamon. Hint of vanilla. Pretty tasty drink. Finishing towards dry, and coffee bitter.

22oz bomber pours with a mahogany body that supports a thin mocha head of foam. The aroma offers up plenty of chili pepper notes and then some light cinnamon spices and baker’s chocolate. The taste has chili pepper right up front but there’s just chili flavors and really no heat that I can tell. Just behind that are pleasing notes of chocolate bar like goodness, some cinnamon spices and dark roasted malts. It stays firmly with chili pepper flavor and then just a mild degree of heat well into the finish. Really tasty stuff.

Poured from a bottle it is cola floored beer with a flight head. The aroma is lot sherry and the taste picks up that flavor and lingers sweetly on the palate.

A clear mahogany brown ale with a thick lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet nutty coffee malt with caramel notes, chocolate, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate malt with coffee, nuts, very nice and interesting. Bottle at Brooklyn Pour 2013.
