Mon is een West coast style session IPA of india pale ale van 4.5%. De geschiedenis van dit soort bier gaat terug tot WO1 tijdperk in Engeland. Er werd toen daadwerkelijk gedronken op het werk, zelfs tijdens de produktie van wapens. De arbeiders kregen 2 drinkperiodes toegewezen elke werkdag van 4 uur. Dit vroeg dus om een lichter bier dat makkelijk drinkbaar was dan de dagelijkse porter of stout. Bier mocht volgens de wet tot 1988 niet zwaarder zijn dan 3 of 4 %. Tegenwoordig zijn de meeste rond de 5 %. Het is gekenmerkt door een sterk hoppig aroma met tropisch fruit op de voorgrond. Eerst zacht en fruitig gevolgd door een drogende bitterheid.

New IPA by Broers, sampled at ZBF 2017. Moussy, snow white head, quickly collapsing in the middle to a bunch of thin ’islands’, golden robe with warm peachy hue, hazy. Aromatically hoppy, even slightly ’dank’ aroma of pink grapefruit, tonic water, rainwater, dried mango, sweet paprika, orange zest, bread. Crisp onset, sharp and minerally carbonation, dry mango and green banana flavours, slick mouthfeel with a cereally, grainy pale malt body. Aromatic and adequately bittering hop finish, resinous and grapefruity, bit tonic water-like, drying. Credible as a modern, even internationally aiming IPA, a tad overcarbonated, but honestly way better than I expected.

Sampled at Zythos 2017. Thnx for sharing, Ruben and Tim ! Pours rather unclear blonde, small white head. Smell is hoppy, fresh. Taste is bit thin. Sharp. Bit bitter. No real aftertaste. OK .

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is peachy and slight grapefruity. Smooth fruity. Crisp hoppy. Lingering fruity and crisp hoppy far finish.

At Zythos 2017. Pours hazy amber. Aroma is tropical fruit, citrus, lots of hops. Body is medium, supports the flavours, still tropical, good residual sweetness. Lingering fruity palate. Good, especially for this low ABV!

Thank you for sharing German speaking RB Crew! Sampled bottled @ ZBF 2017. Hazy orange, little white head. Nose is nice stone fruit hop, peach, low bitter grass, largely mildly sweet low hop stone fruit. Taste is bitter grass, white pepper, very bitter with lower stone fruit. Lightly watery but quite nicely bitter, white pepper, grass,... Nice one.

Sampled @ Zythos Bier Festival 2017. Fast klare dunkel goldene Farbe. Geruch sehr hopfig, leicht harzig, würzig. Geschmack ist floral hopfig, hell malzig, harzig.

Bottle. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is juicy fruity hops. Taste is grassy, some tropical fruits, a bit watery. Medium carbonation. Nice, but a bit too light.

Clear pale blond beer creamy white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: pretty hoppy, tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit, some pineapple. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty hoppy, citrus, bitter, grapefruit, some pineapple, grassy. Aftertaste: hoppy, bitter, and dry finish, some grains, bit grassy. Decent one!
