Our Green Street Sour IPA is the new sour cousin to our High Street Vermont IPA. It has the same attention to hop and malt balance with with additional kick of our sour yeast. It’s not the jolt to your taste buds that our Flemish Sour Brown provides, but it certainly has a powerful, tart presence to support its hoppiness. We also committed to using 100% locally sourced hops from our neighbors at Four Star Farms for their truly excellent aroma and flavor. Are you ready for a new approach to an old style?

16 oz. can purchased at CBC Waterbury, VT. Dirty orange in color with low carbonation. Aroma is mostly Brettanomyces Claussenii with notes of vinegar. Oh boy... Why did I buy this?

Flavor about what you would expect, a mega ton of Brett C, notes of Band-aid, steady amount of lactic acid. Gives me heart burn. Although I have enjoyed some Brett IPA’s in the past, I am not a huge fan of this.

Draught at the brewery, 3/18/16.
Lightly hazy blonde-bronze body shows light carbonation and a medium-sized white head atop with moderate carbonation.
Hoppy in the nose, but with some strong brett aromatics, as well. Not too much on the pine/citrus side of things, but rather full of spicy/woody notes which seem to match the brett perfectly. Tiny bit of dry pineapple and mango, as well, with no alcohol or flaws.
The flavor is very, very unique. The hops add a mossy/woody/spicy element that complements the tart brett band-aid-like notes, while mango, pineapple and guava add levity and brightness. Ample, tight carbonation and a slight puckering sourness on the end. Very nearly perfect tart/sour/bitter balance, with a gentle caramel-like sweetness as well, helping to balance.

Sep 18, 2015. Draught at the brewery. It pours hazy orange with a small white head. The nose is fresh, fragrant, hand lotion, tangerine rind, grass, funky and leaf. The taste is tart, earthy, funky, green hops, grass, dankness and sweet lemon with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Interesting and pretty quaffable - 3.5. Sep 9, 2019. This can in can and The Spring SIP edition. The aroma is crazy juicy and tangy, loads of tangerine, sour peach, apricot, sherbet, sour cabdy and some green weedy vibes. The taste is crisp and puckering, tangy, juicy and moreish, peachy, mango, nectarine, um bungo, sherbet and just a touch green. Medium body and fine, airy carbonation. I really enjoyed this more recent version. So juicy and fruity and delicious! 3.9

Though perceived as an AIPA on here, I treated it as a Flanders Red ale, thus opting for the tulip.
The appearance started off with a ruddy burnt red to brown color with a quickly dissipating white foamy to semi-bubbly head. Lacing was few and far between.
The smell had the sweet glaze of Belgian sugar weaving into sour apples, sour lemon, then lemongrass.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors to combine and make sweet yet sour. An ample amount rustic and earthy notes check into the balance of this one. A light sour lemon to apple aftertaste runs into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation feels right for a Flanders red, misleadingly sharp, allocating enough but taming my tongue with a pervasive bitterness.
Overall, I see this as a Flanders red ale. Sorry, at Hermit Thrush, good effort to throw at us to say \"IPA.\" Still, I would have again. Pass a New York strip steak piled with some shredded lobster meat on the top with this for next time.
