This lager poured a deep amber colour with a big, off white, foamy head. Nice lacing on the glass. Scents include brown sugar, smoke, malt and light coffee. First taste was creamy and mildly sweet with flavours of malt, smoke and light cocoa. Finish is sweet with malt and smoke flavours lingering.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color lager with an average size head with good retention but no lacing. Aroma of caramel malt is quite refreshing. Taste is also dominated by some caramel malt with not much discernable hops. Body is average with good carbonation. Not the most complex of beer but well done for what it is supposed to be.

Orange coloured. Yeasty, strange sharp malt flavour. No - this is quite the opposite of the soft, creamy flavors I like in an Oktoberfest.

Perhaps no beer better exemplifies Amsterdam's lack of flair than this one. The potential is there in the subtle malt flavours for this to be a standout, but it just never quite gets there. Maybe some more hops, or a more complex yeast strain would help.
