Genuine New Englanders are the type of people who are brave enough to take on a long, snowy shoveling session and lighthearted enough to crack a beer in their lawn chair afterwards. This new Double IPA is brewed for those True Englanders. For this beer, we used the new Sabro Hop from the Pacific Northwest.
Pouring a hazy golden yellow, True Englander swirls unique aromatics of coconut, ripe pineapple, white lily, and stone fruit. Full flavored tropical tones of piña coladas, lychee and key lime pie grace the palate underpinned by fresh tangerine, papaya and white nectarine. Medium bodied with a luscious and creamy mouthfeel, True Englander has a balanced and smooth finish.

Draught at Glory: pours light yellow with a white head. Aroma is floral, orange, tropical notes. Taste is dry and bitter with a bunch of tropical notes in there. Lingering bitterness.

Canned 1/12/26, drunk 2/13/26.
A lot of Sabro! But it's not mega-intense coconut or sweet, crushed pineapple. More floral, like tangerine oil/tangerine rind and/or freshly squeezed orange juice. It's big and bold and dominant, but there's no resin or anything detracting really. Just kind of a one-trick pony, at least in the nose. Sparse, cracker-and-biscuit-like malts seem supportive. No alcohol noted.
Similar flavors to the nose but there's a big, soft, white bread and honey-like malt element that helps balance the heady floral nature of the nose. The result is a lot of fresh citrus with an afterthought of unripe pineapple and coconut. Low but mostly ample bitterness and fairly fat malts. The hop does seem to require a good deal of malt to balance, but I wish it were a shade drier and more bitter.

Sample at the roost pours a murky yellow with a little bit of white head. Nose is OK, floral, citrus, straw. Not offensive but could have more. Some booze maybe. Flavor has citrus and straw and some grist. Lightly sweet and some corn arrives. Oily finish though. Weird. Not their best.

Can split at L6 Tasting, thanks to LKS, 27/06/19. Murky yellow with a well presented off white covering. Nose is hop spice, bitter orange, dank notes, raw citric flesh. Taste comprises sweet malts, pine needle, wee, ripe citric flesh, melon. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with juicy hop bitterness. Decent enough DIPA but comes in overly sweet for my liking.

Can shared in London - sourced via Anja. Pours murky gold with a creamy, white head. Moderately juicy, with notes of pale grains, jammy citrus, low bitterness. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Decent balance in the finish, a little warmth, plenty of sweet citrus fruits. Good.
