22 oz. Bottle. Guess I’ve discovered one of the Golden State’s minor brewers at Binny’s. That okay. Definite cocoa and coffee smell upon opening. Pours deep brown, frothy tan head. Taste is more of a soured stout than a porter, though. The sensations promised in the nose do not show up readily in the mouth. I can get a bit of coffee and cocoa, but the sourness runs over it. I see other raters have commented on the sourness, so it’s not because it went home in my car in 90° heat.

Dark brown color. Nice aroma of dark caramel and roasted malt, a bit phenolic. Quite good flavor, a mix of caramel, roasted malt and dark chocolate. The body is a bit thin. The roasted malt is harsh in the end.

Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a light cocoa head. Chocolate aroma with slight roast. Roast and chocolate flavor. Slight backing bitterness. Doesn’t quite go together - could be smoother. Medium-light bodied.

Re-rate from tap Coffee aroma. reddish brown hue, creamy low brown head. tastenotes are a bit acidic, ashen, earthy, a bit like used coffee grounds. Some chocolate - coffee in aftertaste. Good body, smooth mouthfeel.
