This double IPA has twice the hops and grains as its counterpart. Significant floral, citrus, and peppery notes on the nose, yet even with the enormous hop profile, the huge grain bill results in a very well balanced brew.

på bästa ölbaren i San fransisco. Medelgrumlig nästan klar i klassisk ipa rostig färg. Fan vilket tjafs om färgen!! . Omedelbart i munnen torr och denna torrhet håller i sig. Lite blåa druvor och lite vetemjöl . Rätt fin men torrheten innehåller för lite smaker.

Bottle pours a hazy copper with small white head. The aroma is dank, citrus and resin. Medium body, pine, grapefruit, lingering resin finish, very good.

Very hazy amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and fairly crisp. Malts are sweetish and a touch milky with a little dry cream. Dry piney hops, light spice. Mild hop skunk and orange citrus. Citic peel. Finishes smooth. A little milky sweet but overall decent.

Bomber on 2nd June 2015 into a La Chouffe tulip three times. Cloudy/misty amber with a weak white, wispy head on each pour. I am old enough to remember the TV series Casey Jones, but it was the picture on the front label that made me buy the beer (Texas Liquor, Carlsbad) as the dog on the rail track looks like ’Frankie’ our daughters Black Labrador cross. The beer is a hop monster with a huge bitterness that overpowers everything else the brewer might, or might not have added to the grist. I liked it: I am warming to these exceedingly hoppy West Coast brews it would seem.

On tap at Iron Springs brewpub during SF Beer Week, what a week! It pours clear copper with near white head. The aroma offers up a good deal of grapefruit and clementine citrus notes as well as a mild level of sweet malts and spicy hops. The taste is nice and chewy with rich grapefruit and tangelo like citrus hops, some spicy hops and then growing into some floral hop notes here and there. It has both vibrant bitter hops and some hop flavor for balance. Fresh and on tap, this is tasting dandy.

Aroma of manure, peat moss and very damp grass. I keep re-smelling throughout the glass, but that’s what’s there. Pours a crystal clear golden orange with a nice white head that mostly lingers. The manure flavor is up front and follows through with a nice bitterness. Some sweet malts try to make themselves known. On the finish, I get some good pine and the alcohol is very present. Mouthfeel is medium with warming alcohol. The imperial is imparted mostly through bittering hops. Could be better.
