IPA - Imperial / Double Regular Out of Production
Score
7.21
ABV: 9.3% IBU: 90 Ticks: 21
This double IPA has twice the hops and grains as its counterpart. Significant floral, citrus, and peppery notes on the nose, yet even with the enormous hop profile, the huge grain bill results in a very well balanced brew.

Hops: CTZ, Chinook, and Simcoe

On tap at Toronado San Francisco. Pours a murky orange/brown with a lacing, white head. Big citrus in the nose, lemons, orange, pine, grapefruit. Big citrus zing on the tongue at the forefront, actually, too much zing in my opinion. Then it opens up with some nice sweet malt, tropical fruits and orange. Bitter, sticky finish.

Bottled. An unclear dark amber beer with a huge orangey head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt and grapefruity hops, as well as a touch of toffee. The flavor is very hoppy - grapefruity primarily on a lightly caramel malty background, strong on the hops leading to a very bitter finish.

Bottle from City Beer. Pours with a amber hued body with a large white head which left great lace. Aroma of orange and grapefruit hops with some caramel. Taste is bitter with pine hops and some residual sugars. Light bubbles and creamy carbonation. A solid, but not outstanding IPA.

Bottle from Ledger’s. It’s BC. Hazy ruby orange color with a minimal whiteish head. Strong aromas of citrus/resin and roasted malt. Medium plus body with minimal carbonation. Flavor of roasted malt and floral/citrus hop. These are very strong flavors. After it brutalizes your mouth, it actually begins to seem smooth. Love this stuff.

Deep copper coloured body with a thick tan head. Aroma of very potent alcohol, hops and malt - nothing light in this one! Full-bodied; Strong grapefruity and piney hops dominate the flavour with a chunky alcoholic and malty kick and a not-so-subtle blast of citrus noticeable as well. Aftetaste lasts quite a while - mostly alcohol and strong malt leftover. Overall, a good beer, albeit a bit too strong and potent for my liking. I sampled this pint on draught at Toronado in San Francisco, California in March 2008.

(On tap - Toronado) Slightly hazy amber golden with a small, off-white head. Citrusy aroma. Very full body with lots of caramel malt and fruit and then a solid bitterness in the finish - a very distinct bitterness actually. 250307 and 090709
