Draft. A murkcy chestnut brown beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, and caramel - not very porter like. The flavor is sweet with an acidic edge from the roasted malt, combined with notes of sweet malt, caramel, and alcohol, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Where is the roasted malt?

(On tap) Very dark brown - close to black - with an orange hue. Small, beige head leaving laces. The aroma is of roasted malt. Medium body with very sweet, roasted malt and a very vague burned touch. Basically no bitterness. 250307

Clear brown colour-fairly dark with absolutely no head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and some definite noticeable hops! Medium-bodied; Roasted malt up front with sugar and hops that are strong-WIERD! Aftertaste nice-definitely an odd combination for a porter: sweet & hoppy! Overall, a decent beer-thin for a porter, but considering all of the other characteristics of this beer...very good to try! I sampled this pint from draught at the San Francisco Brewing Company in downtown San Francisco, California on the second day of 10-June-2004...our first was spent in Sydney, Australia.
