Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Very dark brown, small coarse head. Earthy roasty malt aroma with tart cranberries coming through. Medium sweet with lovely soft mouthfeel. Sadly oncreeping infection dumps traces of vinegar, cranberries and blood, and citric acid comes to top earth and tobacco. Finishes with fairly low bitterness. A beer with lots of potential ruined by infection more than five month before it’s BB date.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 10 Nov 2008) Very dark, almost black colour with foamy, brief, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate, prunes, raisins, dark rye bread and slightly smoky hints of ashes. Roasted, fruity taste with notes of black-currant, dark cherries and dried fruit. Dark chocolate and coffee in the finish. Low carbonation gives it a flat and rather thin mouthfeel. Not much correlation between aromas and flavours, and to be honest aromas were more promising than the taste could deliver. In short: dark chocolate and coffee weirdly turned into dark, sourish fruit.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, consumed outside my tent at Towersey Festival Poured dark brown some bitter coffee notes detected on the aroma, which was quite roasted. Lovely tasting beer quite simple but done well, nice toasty taste with coffee once again showing, bit fruity and drying finish, very nice beer.
