330 ml bottle courtesy of Desverger. Pours oily black with a small mocha head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and roasty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, vanillin, milk duds and moist soil. Taste is sweet, slightly bitter and malty. Mouthfeel is soft, velvety, round, astringent and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, burnt caramel, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, vanillin and moist soil. Solid but easily forgetable impy. Must confess I didn’t detect the barrel treatment at all...

(On tap @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Apr 21 2015) Pours black with a small brown head and no lace. Aroma has lots of vanilla and rich dark chocolate, a little coffee and dark malt in support. Softly sweet with roasted cacao. Flavour of toffee, chocolate, vanilla beans, light roast, more vanilla beans. That flavour persists long into the aftertaste. Light to moderate roasty bitterness. A good vanilla stout, was cold out of the tap and cold outside so tough to get it to drinking temp, but nice and rich. Almost too much vanilla...

Bottle split at the sleepy-rapping tasting at Ronny & Alex’s pad, CBC fine tuner, 30/04/15. Black with decent tan spotting and edgework. Nose is chocolate, light spice, charr, toffee, cocoa nib, vanilla essence. Taste comprises roast malt, vanilla, chocolate, light spice, molasses, toffee, subtle BA notes. Full bodied, fine carbonation - slick feel, light booze notes in the close. Decent enough BA impy.

Bottle @ Home. Pours pitch black with creamy brown head, lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla, wood, light bourbon. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, wet oak, dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, alcohol. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, light bitter finish with light warming alcohol. 090515

Bottle at Leighton’s joint, thanks to Kenny. It pours jet black with a medium tan head. The nose rich roast, sweet vanilla, toasty coconut, blackcurrant and chocolate. The taste is bitter, rich roast, oily, sweet vanilla, chocolate, earthy roast, ash, charred wood and pepper with a slick finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Pretty hefty and oily, but it ain’t too shabby.

Bottle share at Leighton’s Stratoflat. Opaque black - brown beer, good tan head. Airy dark malts, smooth. Nice dark malt cream. Mild vanilla. Little mellow dark chocolate. A trace of roasty coffee. It’s pretty smooth but not the sumptuous treat I was hoping for and a little weaker than the other Ghost Imperials we had tonight.
