On tap at Ølfestival 2011. It’s an unclear, yellow-orange beer wtih a dense, white finger-thick head. The aroma is very smoked, with ham and some malty sweetness. A touch of fruityness too. Pale malts, smoke and a good dash of fruityness in the flavor. Medium body, a bit dead on the palate. Dry. Smoke and pale malts in the finish. Well, combining smoked and lots of hops might work out just fine, but this isn’t so very successful. Far from bad though. 110528

Draught, KØ11. Cloudy dark yellow colour. Very big stable creamy off-white head. The flavour is mildly smoky, has a bit of fruit. A bit grainy in the finish. Like a standard Danish lager with smoke, but not bad.

Draught at Københavnske Øldage 2011. Cloudy golden, creamy head. Mild beechwood smoky nose. Sweet and fruity with apples and citrus. Pleasant smokiness. Resiny bitterish finish. A good beer from Vestfyen?? How did this happen?

100ml on draught at Ølfestival København 2011. Hazy golden body, filmy white layer. Smell of bacon and sausages. Smoked malts in taste added by dry, fruity hops. Bittersweet end. Not too thin. Likable (Copenhagen, 28.05.2011).

Draught@CPH BF 2011. Hazy golden colour, small beige head. Aroma is mild smoked wet wood along with some sweet malts and mild leathery notes. Flavour is smoked wet wood, some toasted notes as well as quite wellhopped. Probably the biggest positive surprise during the Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011.

At Copen hagen Beer Festival, as Vestfyen Fyensk Røgøl. With 100% smoked malts, whereof 50% barley and 50% wheat, I assume this must be pretty close to a traditional Grätzer? Cloudy golden colour. Smoky aroma, notes of smoked sausages. Refreshing wheaty and smoky flavour, light bodied. The hoppiness is not as distinct as promised, but sufficient.
