Bottle from Geers. Dark red/amber/brown colour, creamy foam. Nose of caramel, plums, wood, red wine, vanilla, bourbon. Taste is sweet, vinous, not too boozy, complex and well balanced. Again a great one from Struise.

Très beau travail sur cette quadruple vieillie en barrique de Saint Emilion blanc et en fut de Bourbon. Puissance complexité et équilibre sont rendez vous. Quand je parle d'équilibre je fais fi cependant de mon manque d'appétence pour les bières relativement sucré. En verre bel ambré foncé parfaitement limpide. La mousse blanc cassée est très peu présente. Le nez est entre force et subtilité : bourbon, vin blanc, caramel pomme poire et pointe vanillée sont présents. A la dégustation, nous retrouvons les mêmes arômes avec des notes poivrées en complément. La présence en bouche est excellente avec une complexité au rendez vous. L'amertume est bien dosée (43 d'IBU) pour donner de la brillance et l'alcool à 10,5 % Abv lui donne du caractère. Avec un final long, tout est réuni pour passer un excellent moment.

330 ml bottle into chalice; 2012 vintage, bottled on 12/07/2016. Pours lightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, prune, fig, date, cherry, pear, apricot, red apple, red grape, red/white wine, bourbon, toasted oak, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and brown bread; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, molasses, pepper, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/light spicy yeast, wine/bourbon barrels, candi sugar, and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, prune, fig, date, cherry, pear, apricot, red apple, red/white wine, bourbon, toasted oak, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and brown bread; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, molasses, pepper, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light yeast/wine/oak tannin spiciness and herbal/grassy hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruit, cherry, pear, apricot, red apple, red grape, red/white wine, bourbon, toasted oak, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, oaken vanilla, molasses, pepper, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/light spicy yeast, wine/bourbon barrels, candi sugar, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly slick/sticky/tannic mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 10.5%. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged quadrupel! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/light spicy yeast, wine/bourbon barrels, candi sugar, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. Extremely rich and complex; with amazing fruity yeast, malts, and candi sugar flavor balance. Outstanding barrel presence and integration with no booze. Not overly sweet/heavy feeling. The four year long barrel aging did great things for this. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Bodney Towers bottleshare. Thanks to Dan. Light haze on this amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Soft malts, light creamy sweetness. Mellow bourbon fruits blend well with the delightful dessert wine character. Mild spice. Smooth finish. Very nice and very drinkable.
