Cranachan is a traditional Scottish dessert made from raspberries, honey, toasted oats and cream. We love it. So we made an oatmeal pale ale and smashed it with
enough local berries to feed a clan of hungry Highlanders.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Murky, dark, pinky orange. Film of sticky, off white head. Nose has raspberry and strawberry ice cream. Some wheat. Taste has a raspberry pip, earthy bitterness. Some light sourness. Crisp mouthfeel. A little dry. Earthy bitter finish. Some acidity. Ok.

Bottle. Hazy brick red body with massive yeast chunks floating beneath a medium pink head. Faint lacing. Aroma of strawberry syrup, tablet and cranberry. Flavour of tart raspberries and a hint of honey. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft fizz. An interesting beer, but it’s one of the ugliest I’ve ever seen - the floaters look like pieces of crushed piece of chalk. The other reviews are more positive so I will try to seek it out again.

Bottle as "Cranachan" big thanks to Dave! It pours cloudy orange with medium white head. The nose is soft, sweet, fresh raspberry, jammy action, toasted oats, raspberry yoghurt and earth. The taste is smooth, toasty, fresh raspberry, toasted oats, some creaminess, fruity tang, Victoria Sponge and porridge & jam with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Definite Cranachan character! Well realised.
