A solid double from Waller. Coffee and chocolate in the nose. The aforementioned are complimented in the taste profile by dank and citrus hops and roasted malt. A solid blend, could be more dynamic in the individual tastes, but a repeater for me and a very solid bit of beer craft.

Jet black pour, large beige head. Aroma is very roasty, with big chocolate notes and some big coffee. There is some pine but it’s subtle and very soft. The carb is nice, and the mouth feel is also soft. The finish is medium bitter with a big roasty malt bill. The hops are very subdued, and weak. There are notes of pine but the huge roasty, chocolaty malts just dominate. This is really riding the line between blac ipa and hoppy imperial stout.

Poured a dark brown colour with cola highlights, a beige creamy head and nice lacing. Dark fruits aromas (plums, raisins) with mild roasted malts, hints of chocolate and coffee. Roasted malt flavours with lots of grassy hops, creating some nice bitterness and dryness in the finish. Some sweetness in the middle and coffee lingers. A hoppier IIPA that is quite rich with lots going on.

A dark reddish brown ipa with a thick frothy lacing brown head. In aroma, nice chocolate malt with loads of herbaceous floral hops, alcohol warmth, nice. In mouth, a crisp chocolate malt loads of herbaceous bitter hops, dank, coffee grind, musty character, nice if a bit off. Cask at Caskapalooza Ottawa 2016.
