Our same Onyx but matured in a brand new barrel made of amburana, a Brazilian wood that underwent a medium-high torrefaction. This conveys the beer notes of roasted coconut, vanilla and cinnamon complete with a sweet touch. When a Brazilian pirate took hold of an Onyx, he hid it in an amburana barrel!

The twelfth one of 22 beers for our 12th wedding anniversary. Charal's.
Bottle 0.33l, three and half years aged. Seems clear, dark red to black colored. AROMA- touch of balsamico, dark berries, black cherry, raisins, prunes, cocoa, vanilla, hazelnuts, liquor, Christmas chocolate bonbons. FLAVOR- smooth, moderately sweet, light balsamico sourness, bitter finish, cocoa, liquor, touch of balsamico, touch of vanilla, some dark fruit, alcohol in finish. Fuller to full bodied.
Great.

Bottle at home from Csakajó. Jet black pour, beige head. Nose is faint cocoa, chocolate and big overwhelming booze. Taste is super held back orange zest, cocoa and chocolate and that offensive booze again, in fact it's like someone mixed some cocoa with cheap vodka. I really dont know what could the issue has been here cause based on the ratings here (and UT) I thought it's gonna be a solid, but at least an average imp stout, but it was really terrible. Weird.

Bottle. Black with a cm of tan head. Very chocolatey brioche aroma with herbal and woody notes, modest roast, orange oil. So it tastes. Some alcohol, Bitterness is at a nice level but enters as an intrusion. Some nice spicy notes at the end. Good, if a little strong for what it offers.

Bottled. Black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocoate, caramel, some spices, tonka beans, vanilla and some toffee too. Flavour is coffee, tonka beans, some xmas spiciness, mild vanilla and some dates with a mild touch of alcohol to it.

My 33 cl bottle came from Etre Gourmet back in the summer. I had an amburana imperial stout from Oskar Blues a few years ago. A very good beer. Time to see how Atrium does it. I have had a Belgian snifter out working for some other brews, no reason to change. The label is cool, rather dark and stoic. The body is dark also, dark brown, just short of black with a toast colored skim of foam. I have to say the scent is intoxicating with wood, chocolate, grain and syrup. The drink only exceeds the standard set by the nose. Amburana wood as I remember it, bakers chocolate, berries, molasses, caramel, scorched wheat bread, some licorice and a moderate bitterness at the finish. A really fine beer.

Bottle at home. Black with tan head. Roasty, a bit boozy. Some cocoa powder too. Overall just a bit too boozy.

0.33l bottle. Black body with a brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and some wood. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla and grassy hops. Surprisingly it's sweeter than the non-oak aged version. Medium bodied with a silky texture and low carbonation. Very nice.
