Inspired by rosé wines, La Bonté Rosé is fermented with our house brettanomyces culture. This beer is then blended with a portion of golden sour onto a half pound per gallon of small-batch Gewürztraminer grapes and Cascade skins from the 2018 harvest in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. It is then aged in stainless and in our Foeder until it reaches wine-like perfection.

Subdued light copper coloured body with a pink and violet glow and a thin pure white head that fades quite quickly without much else aside from some effervescence from the bottom. Aroma of super dry and funky brett, yeast, grass, floral and lightly grape-y scents that show a tiny bit of malt, but really more of a funky brett note with some more assertive yeast than anything else - quite plain and subdued. Light-bodied; Sharp brett and funky yeast note with some dry grass, hay, flowers and wheat but no real depth or complexity - this is dry and funky with a light grape note, but that's about it. Aftertaste is very light and super soft with only a touch of sugar from the grapes on the end without any real malt notes or depth without any alcohol showing at least, but too soft and subtle to be thoroughly enjoyable. Overall, a pretty mild and tame beer with some faint notes of brett and concord grapes without much else - this is dry, airy and grassy, but that's about it. Definitely not worth going out of the way for, and if you do happen to like very subtle dry beers, perhaps give this one a shot - you'd probably like it. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Crystal City Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia on 03-April-2020 for US$4,59 sampled at my house here in Washington, a few blocks away, only three days later on 06-April-2020.

$4.30 12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse Charlottesville, 2/8/20. Hazy amber, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of strong brett, funk, grape, yeast. Taste is brett, fresh grape, lemon, funk, tannins. Medium bodied, lingering funkiness. Not really tart, but the funk is strong. Nice beer.

Bottle from WW.Pours hazy gold with a small off-white head. Aroma is Brett, white grape, wet dog, paper. Flavor is tart white grape (think champagne), but then slightly sweeter grape, Brett, a little metallic tinge, minor earth. Brett is subdued.
