Bottle, 8%. Slow gusher. Slightly spicy aroma, a bit of orange, perhaps. Almost clear dark brown colour. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is slightly spicy with a hint of paper. Has some cookie spices, but they are not pungent, just in balance with the alcohol. Not bad.

Bottle that I picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Belgium and consumed in Herefordshire 03-07-10 Pours dark brown in fact chestnut would be more accurate with off white moving to light beige head. There are dark sugars on the nose, its sweet & malty. The taste is sweet & malty with dark sugars also present in mouth, loads of chocolate and spice the bitterness is pleasant and its bitter chocolate. Nice beer. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bottle picked up from Hop Duvel Warehouse Gent Poured lighter and than expected, with a typical Belgian nose, sweetness and yeast dominate some nice soft carbonation, this is fine but no great shakes

11.2oz bottle. Foggy amber-brown color. Patchy, beige head. I get some spice in the aroma, maybe cinnamon, and nutmeg, but something else a little more herbal too, can’t put my finger on it..maybe chamomile. I’d guess this was a little bit pasts it’s prime, but it doesn’t show many signs of deterioration. Mellow spicy mouthfeel complements the big ABV quite well. Creamy, with some nice yeasty tones. A great Christmas beer, displays great balance for the style.

This beer doesn’t really have enough going on to hate or love. It’s just a ho-hum Belgian-style ale with a bit of spice. Pours a bright copper color with a fizzy white head. The aroma is mostly caramel malt, Belgian earthiness, candi sugar and spice (juniper berries?), but it doesn’t amount to anything particularly exciting. Flavor is mildly sweet. Mouthfeel is too thin. Actually, the beer is generally fairly weak for 8.5% abv. Not a bad beer but not something I’d recommend with so many excellent Belgian ales around.

Pours a dark rubyred with irregular beige head. Smells a little yeasty with hints of sour apple. Little acidic taste followed by a balanced bitterness and roasted malts. A bitter aftertaste with pronounced hints of coffee.

Beautiful bottle, the cap rusted a bit. Berry aroma; straw- and blueberries. Hazy amber, lacing brown layer. Brown sugar base, fruityness as in the aroma, light dry grassy notes, wooden dry ones as well, light belgian yeast notes, honey and berries retronasal. Mellow sparkly mouthfeel, medium body, feels a bit lighter than it is.

Bottle. Thick looking dark brown beer with a strong foamy white/lightly brown head. The aroma is lightly spiced, and the flavour is deeply spiced, vinous, rich, slightly yeasty, and bitter at the finish, Overall a nice beer.

Draft at Swift Lounge: Brown and off-white head. The aroma did not really impress me, but it was somewhat fruity, but not nearly as fruity and explosive as some Belgians are. There were however a lot of malts in the aroma, as well as in the taste. The taste of the beer was also somewhat underwhelming. Heavy malt backbone. Mild dark fruit flavors. Slightly syrupy feel to it. I was expecting something better, but this beer was certainly very drinkable, also the heavy alcohol was perfectly covered.
