Can from Gedeelde Vreugde. Hazy black with a small, beige head. Aroma of prune, raisin, sweetened dark chocolate, toast, fried mushroom, soy sauce, walnut, black tea. Taste has sweet prune & fig in a dark chocolatey body with some earthy walnut on top, bitter toast & coffee powder in the middle as well as a leathery, beefy, almost mushroom-like umami note and a herbal (liquorice) accent. Earthy-herbal hoppy finish, toasty, umami notes toning down in favour of dark chocolate, burnt coffee powder, almost 'espresso sediment' in a way, and warming whisky-like alcohol. Medium to full body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Good stuff, it's surely got depth.

Growler from Underground. Brownish black with a tan head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt. Flavour is sweet toasted malt, dark fruits, overall quite sweet with only a bit the the smokiness of a Baltic.

Keg at the Crafty Taproom, Marlow, 13/10/20. Black with a decent khaki covering that thins to a lasting swirl. Nose is roast malts, dark chocolate, hint of liquorice, charr. Taste comprises bitter roast, cocoa powder, light ashen tones, treacle toffee, molasses, dried fruits, punch of spice. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light boost. Decent Ball-Tick.

At Van Moll corona fest. Opaque black color, decent sized off-white to beige head. Aroma and flavor are malts, soft to decent roastyness, roasty bitter, bitter. Very nice. Good body, medium carbonation. Quite lovely.

Rather light bodied for the abv, even relatively light in color. Clean round and super drinkable, on point for the style. Nothing too bold, “safely” brewed. Clean and crushable. Beyond Beer Hamburg

26/VII/20 - on tap @ DOK Brewing Company (Ghent), BB: n/a (2020-688)
Clear dark brown to black beer, big solid creamy beige head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, grains, hay, cow fodder, soft roast, some coffee, little soapy, chemical touch and solvent when swiveling the glass around. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: good roast, pretty bitter, coffee, cocoa powder, some caramel, dark chocolate, some cow fodder, slightly sourish. Aftertaste: pretty hoppy, bitter, very malty, roasted, slightly sweet, some chocolate and coffee notes, too malty, too much hops, needs some sweetness in my opinion to be a good double porter.

Can from Siren Tap Room, at home, 23rd July 2020. Pours black, nice frothy tan head. Aroma is dark malts, light smoke, cocoa. Taste is rich, dark malts, not sweet, bitter, a little hoppy, classic Baltic Porter in style, very good.
