Had this at Augustiner Braugasthof Krimpelstätter, Salzburg Tuesday 16th December 2025. Difficult to determine the colour as it's served in a krug, however I suspect that it's dark brown with an off white head. Quite a bit of chocolate and caramel initiall, particularly chocolate, soft mouthfeel, great carbonation, spot on in fact. Really like this, it's a very decent Bock.

Klar bernsteinfarben mit weißer Schaumkrone. Malziger, fruchtiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, fruchtig nach dunklen Früchten, schwach hopfig. Hohe Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, mittlerer bis voller Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.

0,5 L pour from a small cask at the brewery. Pours a pale golden color, with a thick, rocky, off-white head. The aroma is toffee, walnuts, rye, vanilla, and oak. Sweet and syrupy. Just a little bitter. Medium body, with a thick, chewy palate, and a little hard finish. Clean, malty, and enjoyable.

0,5l bottle at home courtesy of Saeglopur, big thanks for this one. BB 06. Feb 2017. amber clear color, small off-white head. smells grains, some sweetness, some ripe fruits, plums, chlorophyl, tobacco. average smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes lightly sweet, dark fruits, plums, bit breadish, tobacco, some grains, light grassy notes. finishes lightly bitter with notes of plums, grains and grassy notes. decent overall, but also not overly exciting, I guess a good style example though.

500 ml bottle, bb 06 Feb 17, bought at the brewery.
Amber, clear body, with a big, creamy, lacing, yellowish head.
Aroma of bread, flowers, caramel, some grains, slight grass.
Tastes of bread, caramel, flowers, some hay, slight grass.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes bready, moderate sweet, a bit dry, floral, a bit grassy, slightly herbal.

Nice one. Quaffable and well balanced, with nice bready and floral notes throughout and enough sweetness. Not on par with their Märzen overall, I’m missing some more character, but still an above average style example.

12/11/11/11/9/11

Draft at the Brewpub in Salzburg, Austria. Rich with tart fruit. Sweet juicy malt. Lingering but subtle marmaladey finish. Very smooth and incredibly drinkable. Lovely fresh beer, could drink this all night.
