Brewed especially to celebrate the third birthday of blog ‘Belgian Smaak’, Rule of Three is a collaboration with Kinnegar Brewing in Ireland, based around the concept of ‘Three’.

Three malts were used (pils, carapils and rye). Three hop varieties were deployed (Saaz, Hallertauer Mittelfrüh and Hallertau Blanc). Three yeasts were pitched (English Ale and Mild Dark Ale in primary and a neutral conditioning yeast for refermentation in the keg). The beer was dry-hopped three times. We’re left with a crisp, fruity and easy drinking ale that punches well above its weight.

Tap. Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is farty, grainy. Taste is grainy, but also unfermented wort. Medium carbonation. There are much better beers in this ABV range.

Thank you for sharing kraddel + tderock + Rubin77! Sampled @ Bruges Beer Festival 2017. Hazy orange, off-white head. Nose is grass, green, raw barn, low vegetables, raw grains & other grains. Body is too fizzy, yeasty. Taste is fizzy, huge plaster, yeast, chalk notes, sugar, herbal & some less pleasant other grain notes. Not a fan of this one with the chalk, yeast & vegetable notes.

Clear pale yellow beer, big solid creamy white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: some sulphur first, later more sweet smells, malty, fruity notes. MF: ok carbon, medium body (impressive!). Taste: little bitter, grains, bit herbal, somewhat fruity, soft bitterness. Aftertaste: dry, some almonds, grassy, bitter finish, decent beer!
