Tomas, here at the brewery, likes these big American barley wine style beers. But, the thing is (though probably more historically than now) when these beers get to Sweden they have a few months, some times a year, on them. Tomas doesn’t mind. He loves the toffee, sponge cake batter vibe these beers get with age. This frustrates Magnus. Magnus wanted to show Tomas how good these beer can taste when they peak. He wanted to show this by brewing a Tomas beer. He wanted to educate Tomas on the goodness of fresh beer. Naturally, Tomas already knew this. But, who would not let their favorite brewery brew their favorite beer style? Boom.

Bottled. Ambery brown colout with a small off-white head. Aroma is toffee, nutty, some yeasty and mild alcohol tones. Flavour is toffee, some dark fruits, mild earthy and some alcohol and some plum tones to it. Big bang indeed.

(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with brief, foamy head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of treacle, caramel, resin, dried apricots, wort, pineapple, pink grapefruit, orange peel and pine needles. Malty, hoppy taste with caramel, apricots, wort, pineapple, pears, orange peel, brown sugar, syrup, a touch of coffee and a balanced piney/resiny bitterness in sweetish finish. Almost full body, sweet. Sweet, powerful and hoppy. Not extremely balanced, but really tasty. Very nice.

Flaska från SB. En gång välhumlad och besk men nu utvecklad och mogen smak och en modern men ändå ganska klassisk barley wine. Fudge och karamell, honung, citrusmarmelad med skalbeska, alkoholvärme. Mycket gott.

Bottled 330ml (Beergium)
Hazy chestnut brown colour, small beige head. Aroma has toffee and dark fruits but also less interesting yeast notes and alcohol. Medium to full-bodied. Toffeish malty, earthy hops, even some cellary notes, yeast and alcohol. Not too bad - bold, sweetish, malty and strong but also slightly messy. Old skool knockout barley wine.

At a tasting, thanks, smallish creamy bubbly head, cloudy oxidised red color, aroma of candy, jam and stale bread, candy and jam flavor, quite bitter, light to medium sweetness. Drinkable but old and not really exciting.
