Huvila Arctic Circle Ale is a chestnut coloured ale with a malty/fruity odour. It tastes of dark fruits and caramel malts and finishes off with a nice bitter hop tail. It is brewed with both juniper twigs and a large dose of Finnish attitude. It is available on tap an in bottles in bars and restaurants across Finland.

Bottle. Pours hazy chestnut brown with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel, with touches of vanilla and yeast. Sweetish flavour of malt and caramel, with fruity and estery notes and bitter, hoppy touches. Hints of tar and juniper. Bitter and estery aftertaste. A nice one, although the carbonation could be higher.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - fuzzy amber pour with off-white head. Sweet bready toasted malty, some caramel, light spices, prominent juniper coming through, interesting brew.

Bottle: Hazy dark brown with a bit of red tint, short, off-white head. Bready and nutty caramel scent. Dried, dark fruits, caramel malt flavour......a slight evergreen cooling feel to it, followed by a bit of warm spice... Slightly boozy and sweet. Not bad.

Hopfiger, etwas scharf malziger Antrunk. Milde, zum Mittelteil steigende Kräuternoten, gefolgt von Kaffenuancen. Malzbetoner Nachgeschmack, rund, stimmig. 10/9/10/10/12/10

0,5 l bottle from MC Kiosk in Bonn, best before 21/1/2016. Clear, deep red with a massive, foamy, stable and tan head. Pleasant, fruity-malty aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, juniper, redcurrant and raisins. Sweetish-fruity taste of redcurrant, mushrooms and juniper with hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Short, slightly bitter finish with lots of juniper. Medium body, slightly creamy texture, average carbonation. Very interesting stuff but not totally convincing. The juniper is a bit too dominant so that the beer is somewhat unbalanced.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks troubles. Hazy amber with a beige head. Aroma of malt, spices, caramel. Sweetish flavor with malt, caramel, toast, stale notes, spiciness and a fruity touch. Medium-bodied.

500 ml bottle. Unclear dark brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma has caramel malt, spicy yeast, brown sugar and dry fruit. Flavor has sweet malt, caramel, juniper, yeast and nice bitterness. Fine balanced body and OK aftertaste. Slightly unusual but nice indeed.
