ILA è una Scotch Ale che nasce dalla collaborazione con Samaroli, uno dei più importanti selezionatori di distillati del mondo. L’affinamento in barili usati nella produzione di whisky, provenienti da alcune delle migliori distillerie di Scozia, rende questa birra incredibilmente complessa. I profumi spaziano dal caramello alla frutta secca e sono attraversati da raffinati cenni iodati, marini, lievemente torbati. Il gusto è avvolgente e profondo, caldo e deciso, di interminabile persistenza. Il primo barile utilizzato, arrivato dall'isola di Islay nel settembre del 2014, è servito alla realizzazione del single cask Caol Ila 1980.

Draught Small yellowish head over fully hazy dark brown beer. Liquorice, sweet, caramel and even toffee. Sweet liquorice, but also fragrant herbs (basil?). Again caramel, if seriously dilated. Meidum bodied, slick, Aftertaste has a strange, rosemary-like flavour. No way bad, if just not what I think of as a Scotch ale.

Draft @ ML Fontainas, Italian Beer Wknd #5 avec l’équipe RB et Bru. Ambre voire acajou, col fin beige. Arôme st malté, caramel, pointe de grillé et léger pâle-crystal. Léger fruité noir en rétro. Palais est malté, caramel, fruité noir, date et prune. Petite note de fumé, léger sucre résiduel. Le tout est assez épais, finement collant aux lèvres avec une longueur de bouche centrée sur ce fruité noir et sec. Apparemment bière ayant reposée en fût de whisky, qui ici, reste fortement discret.

This is really not my kind of Scotch Ale / style of beer, big on cough syrup, umami, herbal, prunes, cough syrup, feels like I am taking my medicine. Handpump @Bir&Fud (Rome). Pours dark amber with a medium and persistent off-white head. Aroma is malty, toffee, caramel, light roasted notes, yeasts, nice. Flavour is medium sweet and malty with a fantastic light acidic end. Medium body, flat. A very nice beer! Well done!
