An innovative style that matches roasty notes with fruity/hoppy ones. Dry hopped with Sorachi Ace, there are hints of coconut coming through the toastier flavours of the darker malts.

33cl bottle @home (bottled 2013, BB 10/2015). Pours opaque black with thick creamy lasting brown head. Full body, creamy-oily texture, fair lacing, lively carbonation, bitter finish. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt, citrus zest. Strong malty character, medium sweet, medium bitterness, coffee, dark chocolate, grapefruit, raisins, hints of white pepper, nutmeg. Very balanced, enjoyable black IPA.

Bottle at Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Ink black with hints of indigo. Opaque as the soul of the damned. Chocolate malt, pine needles in the scent. A wonderful tropical fruit note with liquorice and hints of stone fruit. Taste is incredible... Christmas stocking sweet gives way to a juicy intense bitterness. Flavours as diverse as espresso, white grape and prunes. This is an incredibly balanced BIPA. An incredible beer. One of my favourites in a long, long time.-----------Re-rate, cask at CASK pub and kitchen. Still an incredible beer but the intense properties feel muted under cask dispense. Rated 4.2. overall average drops from 4.7 to 4.5.

Dark brown color. Big coffee todfee and caramel nose. Big nuttiness in the mouth with lots of roasted malts, but lacks hoppiness and bitterness. Still very admirable.

Fleurig in de geur, maar dat komt in de smaak niet aan bod. Zwarte kleur, koffie smaak. Fris van't vay

Flaske 330ml spandert av Rune og delt med ham på Rundvannet 8 Apr 15. Svart. Høyt tett skum. Stabil kniplingslacing. Aroma av karamell & lakris. Smaken mild. Litt lakris. Blir tørr etter hvert.
