Flasche in einem Blockhaus Restaurant in Berlin. Dunkles trübes Bernstein, viel beiger Schaum, kleinporig. Aroma: Malz, Karamell ein bisschen Weihnachtsgewürz, Banane. Geschmack: Moderat süß, etwas scharf auf der Zunge, leicht bitter im Gaumen. Karamell, Malz, etwas Banane im Hintergrund.

Taster at Fisch & Feines 2018, Bremen. Murky pale amber to golden in the glass. Some malt with honey at the nose.Taste starts pale grain, malty background. Some fruity hints in the second part. Not a „winter“ as expected but okay.

Draught at the brewpub. Mild roasted aroma. Cloudy amber colour. Good stable creamy tan head. The flavour is nutty and watery. Medium bitterness. Watery finish. Tastes all right but is a little thin. 5 3 5 3 13

Draught as Blockbräu Winter @ Blickbräu, Hamburg. Pours hazy orangeish amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of yeast and fart, wi mild notes of malt and hops. Bitterish and sourish flavour of hops, with bready and malty notes and touches of yeast. Estery aftertaste with a bitter hint to it. Mediocre.

Tap at brewpub, winter 2017 version. Aromatic hop nose, fresh grassy, light flowers and citrus. Cloudy amber, golden foam. Straw note like the Pils, some fudge, medium light very mellow mouthfeel. Mineral dryness in the finish, very pleasant hop aftertaste.

Hazy amber with a medium off white head. Aroma had fruity esters with hints of toasted malt. Flavor likewise. Not bad but lacked some bitterness.

500ml bottle [available due to bartlebier’s prudence and forethought during his Hanseatic trip - thank you very much]. Slightly hazy, copper colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Strawy, wet strawy aroma, a dusty, yeasty touch, some rancid butter, very cautious hints of mandarine. Taste is dry, strawy, a spicy touch of hay, buttery skunkiness, minmally fruity and malty inclusions. Dead level with profane German Hausbrauerei stuff from the 80s.

0.25litre glass at the brewpub on 12th Dec 2014. Cloudy light amber body with a white covering on top. Slight maltiness to the nose and taste, otherwise nothing at all to let you know this is supposed to be a beer. Sour finish to an almost tasteless beer. Why have such a lovely building and not brew lovely beers?
