[750 ml. bottle][Purchased @ Vini, Birre, Ribelli 2016 from the brewery stand][No BBF] Appearance is cassis deep purplish / pinkish amber, little head. Nose is like fermenting black currant berries, sourish, berry skins, rotting berries, almost wild milky, mellow acidic, massive fermenting berries. Lightly sparkling body. Taste is far less interesting than the nose suggested. Taste is dominated by this yeast, lightly soapy, almost Belgian, sugar, thick sugary sweetish yeast, fruit is barely there, fruit is akin to poor yoghurt with almost no fruit, vaguely sour fruit, rotting berries in the back, black currant is barely there whatever is here is present in an odd overly sweet sugary poor yoghurt fashion, faint Cassis Fanta note way in the back, very faint lemon. Nose was far more promising. Disappointing for me.

Light purple colour with a thick purple head. The aroma has a lot of black currant and a light peppery note, pale malt base and an estery note. Deep fruity taste, fresh, with a creamy pale malt backdrop, just a touch of saison yeastiness.

On tap. Looks like hazy cranberry juice with light white head. Aromas of mashed cranberries and currants with a little earthy yeast. Flavors of muddled berries, a bit of cherry pie and dry wheat malts. Semi tart. Nice.

On tap at Darby's Gastown, pours a cloudy reddish pink with a small pink head. Aroma brings out lots of dry and pithy black currant, with a fair amount of tartness and earthy notes. Flavour is dry, pithy and earthy, with a pithy black currant quality dominating, followed by earthy notes and a dry fruity finish. Not very complex; rather, simple and a bit too pithy and one-dimensional in that respect. It's decent.

On tap at Darby’s. Pours a cloudy red currant kompot color with a rose head. Aroma is tart sophisticated black currant. Same character taste with some floral notes peculiar to Saison. Excellent, refreshing beer!

Draught at Darby’s Gastown, Vancouver, as Cassis Saison, 6.2% ABV
Opaque red/purple color with pink head. The aroma is mild, fruity, and a bit footy. Lean mouthfeel, the cassis finds its way through; mild sourness, and a touch of rosemary. It’s a bit chewy, the fruit is pulpy. It has low bitterness, a bit astringent in the final.
Nice, pleasant, well constructed.
