Inktzwart, rond en romig is deze Russian Imperial Stout met een complex smaakpalet. Gebrouwen met verschillende mouten in combinatie met havervlokken en kandijsuiker. Toetsen van chocolade, koffie, caramel, noten. Met een mooie, romige, volle schuimkraag. Lekker zacht, zoet, bitterig en rijk bier om rustig van te genieten. Een lichte flirt met een single malt turf whisky maakt deze stout tot een intens huwelijk, met een vleugje whisky achter in de keel. Een afdronk die nog lang nazindert. Kleur 113 EBC.

Pours hazy dark brown with a small off white and bubbly head. Mild roasted and fruity dark malty. Breadish and caramelish. Toasted and sweet malty finish. Lingering malty and slight fruity finish.

Brown color with tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, some cat piss. Taste is roasted malts, cocoa, a sweetish fruitiness as well. Not much whisky noticeable. Low carbonation. Good beer, but the Whisky is *very* reluctant.

Dunkel orange braune Farbe, geringe beige Schaumkrone. Geruch nach Nüssen, reife Früchte, dunkles Malz. Geschmack süß malzig, Karamell, Vanille, blockmalz, rote Früchte.

Sample @ Zythos’16, courtesy of and shared with the RB Belgian crew. Brune foncée, col léger blanc-cassé. Arôme offre un nez malté, caramel, léger grillé avec une infusion whisky qui reste plutôt discrète. Palais est malté grillé, pointe de boisé résiduel, léger whisky. Je pense que l’on a plus affaire à des copeaux laissés à imprégner dans le whisky le profil général reste assez discret comparé à d’autres versions de barrique.

Sampled draft @ ZBF 2016. (Thank you for sharing RB people!) Black, little mocha bubbles. Nose is raw cacao beans mixed with soy sauce & artificial vanilla & hazelnut. Taste is boozy gravy, umami, gravy, roast, artificial syrup with alcohol layered on top. Crude, simple, passable, feels simple as in additives & straight up extra added whiskey as opposed to a BA treatement.

Clear purple brown beer, small irregular beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, sugary, caramel, dried fruits, soft roast, chocolate notes. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, sugary touch, caramel, bit metallic, roasted, quite some coffee, bitter hops. Aftertaste: mocha, bit sour, alcohol pretty noticeable, hoppy bitterness, coffee. Not bad at all!
