Clear caramel golden color with an off white layer head on top. Some lacing. Moderate intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation level. Good balanced sweetness versus acidity. A bit to fruity flavor. Also yeast, bready and toffee in the flavor.

From keg at Ale House, Chelmsford, shared with Cunningham. Dark orange body, misty. Low beige head, dotted spots. Caramel and dark fruity nose. Taste of caramel, Belgian yeast, bread and dark fruits, jam-like impression. Mid-sweet brown malt-fruity ending. Well bodied. Likable (17.02.2017).

Bottle at home, 18/02/17. Clear golden amber with a well appointed light beige head. Nose is sweet fruit esters, pineapple chunks, toffee, fruit loaf, light spice trail. Taste comprises dates, light peppery spice, fruit cake, figs, dried fruits, toffee, almonds, toasted brown sugar, biscuit. Medium + body, fine to prickly carbonanaiton which eases drinkability, sweet and bitter close with a light boost. Decent well balanced dubbel, doesn’t get too sweet or cloying.

330ml bottle on 14th Feb 2017 in ’Knowles of Norwood’. Thought this would be a sour puss before I purchased it, being allowed to read the label before buying. Turned out to be anything but and the ’sour cherries’ must have been devoured by the Belgian yeasts or something. I found it malty and fairly sweet, liked it.

Bottle at home picked up from Offie and Toffee. A mostly clear reddy copper coloured pour with a lasting beige froth. Aroma is sweet nutty toffee, hint of liquorice, sweet rustic brown bread, strawberry jam. Hint of rounded vanilla on the nose. Flavour is composed of layered sweet malts, toffee, nutty caramel brown bread, mellow yeast character, little esters. Palate is medium sweet, pillowy, moderate carbonation, medium bodied. Little woody rustic finish,

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Eebria Bermondsey. Pours clear copper-red with a small, foamy white topping. The aroma holds some dried berries, Belgian yeast, caramelised sugars. Light to medium sweet flavour with pleasant candied cherries, some bready malts, candi sugars, leathery berries, a little seedy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly drying on the finish, with more seedy bitterness, ripe berries, bread, faint caramel, understated cherry bites. Not bad overall. Interesting take.

Hazy amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light, fairly dry and has mild crispness. Light thin malts, mildly sweet. Fair bit of esters. Very mildly sour generic fruits. Light finish. Esters linger on. Mmmm - pretty estery and quite thin, cherry is muddled. All in all - quite clunky.
