Chocolate & Marshmallow Ale. One sip & you'll want S'more. To celebrate our 111th year of independent brewing, we brewed Shiner S'more with real Texas chocolate. We sought out the perfect fire roasted cacao for this chocolately creation. We brew up Texas small-batch cacao along with roasted malts for a full-bodied flavored ale with rich notes of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla - a flavored ale that sure to make you one happy camper! Enjoy!

Bottle. Dark golden, light brown with a medium head. Aroma had grains, hints of vanilla wafer and chocolate. Taste was like a not so sweet s'more.

Some sweet chocolate in the nose, kicked up by a slightly tan head over the brown of a Newcastle ale. The chocolate is the first thing I taste as well. Kind of like biting into a chocolate-marshmallow Easter egg. A regular brownish ale with added chocolate, not very strong or sweet, so the hops are doing their job. A marshmallow fluff note comes up midway down. I tend to want to contrast beers with the food I'm pairing, so I don;t know if I'd have this with s'mores. There's a light and not-to-sweet chocolate bar and marshmallow flavor that makes this stand by itself.

My screwtop bottle does not say 111 on it, and I see there is another listing for that, oh well, my bottle does look like the one pictured here. Smell is a little chocolaty. Not as dark as I was expecting but it is a darker brew. Thin creamy tan head. Decent co2 and it is a little sweet for my palate. However, its not as bad as I was expecting, at least its drinkable. Yes, even perhaps a little enjoyable? No, that's going to far, ehehehe. Forgetabout these flavored beers, just gimmie a good old beer.

Marshmallow, chocolate malt, and straw aroma. Dark brown with moderate tan head. Moderately sweet marshmallow, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Okay body.

Bottle. A- Caramel, graham cracker, marshmallow, mild chocolate. A- Brown color, clear liquid, tan head. T- Graham cracker, chocolate, caramel, burnt sugar. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly unbalanced finish. O- Smelled just like a smore. The taste was there but not as exact as the aroma. The taste was a tad watery and a tinge of iron in there as well. If the taste matched the aroma this would be killer.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, three to four centimetre tall light tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, light coffee, a dash of chocolate and bunches upon bunches of caramelised sugars, toffee, earth and a lot of sweetness in the nose - especially near the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive lactose and milky, creamy notes show at first with some nice light chocolate dashes along with some substantive earthy malts and all ending with a soft and very subdued grain note. Medium-bodied; Strong earthy and super nutty malts show at first with a pronounced bitterness with some noticeable chocolate and somehow an even sweet, marshmallow-like flavour that shows a caramelised and slightly burnt flavour of sugars in the mix - odd, but done fairly nicely. Aftertaste shows the light sweetness from the caramel and chocolate with a light earthiness and some nuts as well, but not much of a malt body at all. Overall, a decent and relatively strong sweet stout with a light dash of earth and chocolate on the end that shows well throughout and leaves the mouth feeling that a s'more was close by - in a good way for the brewery! I'm usually not a huge fan of their products, but this one delivered in what it was trying to do, and somehow (I'm not sure how they got those flavours in the mix), the beer tasted like a s'more and was very nice throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Giant Food in Falls Church, Virginia on 13-January-2020 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 03-March-2020.
