Botella 37.5 cl en el Lupulo 25..08..2016. (r48).

Super strong BIPA with coffee, at GBF. Moussy, pale beige head, blackish robe with mahogany brown edges. Strong, perfumey, rich bouquet of chocolate liqueur, coffee beans or espresso indeed, vanilla, caramel, brandy, cured meat, kahlua, hazelnut oil. Sweet onset, raisin and date, lots of residual brown sugar sweetness, umami accent (cured meat), caramelly, thick, creamy middle phase, bitterish peppery hops in the finish but no match for the ongoing chocolatey and liqueurish sweetness, ending more like a beery equivalent of coffee liqueur than a true black IPA. Not really true to style - I’d rather consider this an imperial coffee stout than an imperial BIPA, but a very rich, complex, satisfying sipper nonetheless.

Black with soapy head. Aroma is very resinous and boozy. Tastes very sticky and very bitter. There’s sweetness too. Caramel, treacle, liquorice.

Small cream rim over black beer. Coffee, sweet mocha, roasted nuts, Brasil nuts. Sweet-roasted, hint at sweet brandy, again quite nutty. Coffee is quite inconspicuous in the flavour. Rich, voluptuous MF, medium carbonation, alcoholheat. Good stout... or ought we invent "Black Imperial IPA?

Thank you for sharing! Sampled 375 ml. bottle @ Gents Bierfestival 2016. Black with mocha bubbles. Nose is massive thick umami sweetness, lightly herbal, there is some herbal bitterness, hop in the nose, some typical To Øl qualities in smell and taste. Taste is holly molly sweet – uh BIPA? – sweet herbal, lactose, sugar, mocha, umami, herbal sweet, licorice, milk chocolate, sweet vanilla, sweet coffee,… Body is lactose, milk chocolate, umami syrup,… It is rather messy & quite off-wtyle but also enjoyable. Strange beer.

20/VIII/16 - 33cl bottle @ Gents Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2016-873) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing some beers today!

Clear dark brown to black beer, small irregular creamy beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit sweet, caramel, soft roast, charcoal, coffee, bit vegetal. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very sugary, sweet, thinking of lactose here?, pretty bitter touch, malty. Aftertaste: sweet and sugary, caramel, coffee. Way too sweet and sugary for a BIPA, even if it's a BIIIPA (black tripel ipa as they call it).
