Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of raisin, prune, fig, licorice, soy sauce, leather, tobacco, pepper, smoke, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel notes; with solid strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of raisin, prune, fig, licorice, soy sauce, leather, tobacco, pepper, smoke, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Mild roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spice on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, light dark fruit/licorice, leather, tobacco, and roast/toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with an amazing roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Slight dryness from roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and huge full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is insane. Slight slickness, chalky roast, and oak tannins. Alcohol is perfectly hidden; very mild lingering warmth, with no barrel booze after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged Russian imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; insanely smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Extremely rich and well rounded malt/barrel complexities, along with amazing balance between the two. This is the smoothest 17.5% stout I have ever had. Doesn't come off overly drying/boozy from the barrels like some others. Never overly slick/syrupy on body. A highly amazing offering.
