This Russian Imperial Stout is aged for 1 year Bourbon Barrels from Heaven Hills, Jim Beam and Buffalo Trace. The result is a remarkably smooth, graceful liquid. Invictus stands at 17.5% ABV, delivering a Cognac consistency, fine pedigree in this unique Flying Monkeys rarity. Gold Medal Winner, 2016 Ontario Brewing Awards.

Shared 473 ml bottle, as a nightcap at bryne tasting. ABV is 18.4%. Pitch black colour, short-lived brown head. Intense aroma of roast malts, molasses, fusel alcohols, bourbon, caramel. Warming mouthfeel. Intense and sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, but less fusel. Rich and soothing. Jolly good.

Dark pour with a thin beige head. Huge, dominating, bourbon and wood notes, with additional toffee, sharp whiskey, some vanilla. A very boozy, sharp and one-dimensional BBA beer.

Smell of bourbon, malt, mämmi, burnt sugar. Muddy dark brow n colour, tiny brown head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, spices, mämmi, some tar, chocolate and a myriad of other flavours. Vanilla and bourbon in finish. Very thick texture, super heavy body. Very sweet.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head. Aroma of bourbon notes with some woody notes and roasted coffee notes and residual sugar notes is quite enticing. Taste is also a great mix of residual sugar notes with some coffee, sweet black chocolate, vanilla and oak,. Body is full with oily texture and good carbonation. I was expecting another sugar bomb from Flying Monkey but this is actually more balanced then expected even though it is still an extreme beer.

2015 Edition shared in 2019. Pours black, small white ring of foam. Smell is mild heat, bourbon, roasty. Taste is sharp, intense, sweet, bourbon, boozy, fullbodied. Bit to hot ending (booze ). but quite nice indeed.

Thick, bourbon and smooth. Rich chocolate, some coffee.. The smoothness and ease of drinking is ridiculous, though, drinks like it's 10%. Super dangerous and delicious stuff. Go away, Black Tuesday, give me this.

750mml. bottle, taster. Sampled on the 16/03/2019 at Barcelona Beer Festival 2019, (L´Hospitalet, Spain). Dark brown colour with almost no head. Aroma is plenty of bourbon, black chocolate nougat and nuts. Taste is black chocolate, oak barrels and bourbon. Heavy boozy finish. Sweet aftertaste. Strong but tasty. Next one please!
